Healthy Hoosier Community Flu Challenge

CHALLENGE OVERVIEW

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services national Healthy People goal for the year 2030 is that 70% of all community members, 6 months and older, get their annual flu shot. Currently, only about 36% of Allen County residents get their annual flu shot. We have some work to do! To get us on the path to 70% by year 2030, we are launching the Healthy Hoosier Community Flu Challenge.

Our collective goal is that 150,000 Allen County residents, 6 months and older, will get their annual flu shot during the 2024/2025 flu season and that we will build on this year after year.

CURRENT TOTALS

As of October 14, 37,683 Allen county residents have received their annual flu shot. Click here for the most up-to-date goal meter.

Here are a few ways to help educate and advocate for seasonal flu vaccine access:

Offer flu clinics in your school
We know that in-school flu clinics provide access for working families and normalizes getting a flu vaccine for the next generation.

Offer flu vaccines in the workplace
Adult uptake on vaccines is higher when access is most convenient.

Hold a flu vaccine event at your church or non-profit
You are a trusted messenger and your community will directly benefit from better access to healthcare services, including their seasonal vaccines.
